PRINT ONLY!  8"x10." This was my original meditation circle painted in 1967. I  started out to paint something different from the muddy landscapes that I saw being marketed, something modern yet still with shape that conveyed the awareness of the industrial world. When I discovered that there were circles appearing all over the canvas, and the buildings seemed to jump, I thought it was really cool. But getting and spending and trying to raise a my family with a newborn son kept me from doing much more. The only way I could afford the paints was by using the discount I got by working at the college bookstore. When I finally did some research on this effect I learned that a French physicist documented these afterimages in the late 1800's describing them in his theory of successive images. The effect was caused by complimentary colors being placed next to one another.  I wonder if any body else before him ever noticed.  Right
